Carlene Taylor
 

Carlene Taylor has been a Metro Nashville public school teacher for ten years. She began her career at Apollo Middle School, where she taught seventh grade science for five years before moving to Rose Park. Mrs. Taylor teaches seventh and eight grade science. Her Physical Science course for high school credit has received a 100% passing rate for the last five years. In 2006 she was elected Teacher of the Year at Rose Park. She serves on the Metro Middle school Science Fair Committee, Faculty Advisory Committee, collaborated with Vanderbilt on a math/science initiative, served as a mentor teacher with the Center for Science Outreach, and is a member of MNEA.

In 1992 Mrs. Taylor earned a biology degree from Winthrop University, where she was a student athlete and played collegiate softball. She earned an M.S. in biology in 1998 and an M. Ed in Curriculum and Instruction in 2001 from Tennessee State University. While at TSU, Mrs. Taylor performed research in microbial genetics and completed a master’s thesis.

She has been married for twelve years and has two sons.
